For those who were unable to join us on the 12th, we thought we’d share how great a success the United Way’s 14th Annual Shrimp, Oyster, & Fried Chicken Fest was. This success is due solely to all of the volunteers (they know who they are) who were so very generous with their talents, time, and resources; spending endless hours selling tickets, searching for donors for items for the silent and live auctions, and for working the event. What an awesome group of people! A special thank you goes to Sherry Merchant of St. Luke Community Clinic, for volunteering to check participants in and out.
This might be surprising, but two of our volunteers were young ladies—Sara and Annie. These young ladies have big hearts for those less fortunate than themselves. A couple of years ago, Sara took over a 50/50 ticket raffle and found it to be a success, so she has continued to come back every year to run our 50/50 raffle. Sara and Annie worked hard the whole evening and raised over $600. WOW! It was admirable and humbling to watch these young ladies work. Keep an eye out, because these two young entrepreneurs could well grow to become forces to be reckoned with.
