This year, in breaking with tradition, the United Way decided to name the winner PRIOR to the celebratory dinner where the award is bestowed. In the past, we named the winner at the Annual Dinner, which occurs the evening of the Day of Caring. This year, however, our Board of Directors simply could not keep this wonderful news to ourselves and we are announcing early -- in the hopes that all of you who have been impacted by this award winner might be able to come to the dinner and share with him as he receives this much-deserved honor.
George Rutter is a household name in Front Royal. George has been the President of the local C-CAP for many years. Under his leadership, thousands of Warren County have been provided with a helping hand when they had nowhere else to turn. Additionally, he has worked hard for many years to coordinate with the Shenandoah Area Agency on Aging to provide nutritious food and fresh vegetables to low income senior citizens. George embodies a solid love for the community and his spirit of giving is shown through his decades of volunteer work.
Anyone who would like to come and celebrate with George this Friday is welcome to attend the United Way Annual Dinner Meeting and Awards Ceremony on Friday, April 24, 2015. We will gather at Blue Ridge Opportunities, 37 Water Street, at 5 pm for a social hour with wine and beer, followed by a buffet dinner featuring roast beef, chicken and selected other goodies.
Dinner is free of charge for any United Way volunteer or friend of George. Please rsvp by calling Lee at: 540-635-3636.
